Seals for wooden windows protect structures from water and wind. Ms Windows and Doors products include accessories from companies experienced in the design and manufacture of sealing profiles for windows and doors. They come in several colours, so you can easily match them to the look of your design.
Seals for wooden windows – function
Seals fill the gaps between the profile elements. They are exposed to extreme temperatures, sunlight (including destructive ultraviolet radiation), rain, as well as wind. Among the main tasks performed by seals are:
- protection against wind and water ? ensuring tightness,
- improvement of thermal parameters,
- improving sound insulation .
Construction of a gasket for wooden windows
The seal for wooden windows has a chamber structure. On the one hand, it is flat, so it can properly adhere to the wall of the notch. On the other hand, it has a chamber-shaped profiling or several chambers with tabs. When pressed with a wing, they must take the shape of a carefully filling space to be sealed. In wooden windows, 2 adhesive seals are used, which are located at the contact of the wing frame and door frame. They are pressed when the sash is closed, which significantly increases the water resistance of the structure and reduces wind permeability.
Gasket materials
Plastics are used to make gaskets that are not damaged by contact with paints. Thanks to the use of suitable materials, seals retain their excellent properties for many years. An undoubted advantage of these elements is resistance to stretching and deformation under the influence of high temperature. The graphic below shows the standard color versions of the seals in the windows of the MS Windows and Doors range. On individual request it is possible to use different colors.
